It had been more than 20 years since I had to deal with an auto body shop, but I found Gerber to be very personable and organized.and professional. The folks at Safeco were not to be left behind, as they also contacted me and let me know they were there to help if needed. A very negative experience turned out pleasant, and I would not hesitate to recommend Gerber to any of my friends, whether due to an accident or simply in need of body work for their auto. My truck looks better than the day I bought it and I owe that to the team at Gerber Collision in Bellingham. After having a terrible experience at another shop in town, I brought my truck to Allison and Joshua for an estimate. Allison was so helpful and explained the entire process to me so that my tension was put to ease. Allison also set up my rental reservation and called for them to pick me up when I dropped my truck off for it's work. During the time my vehicle was in the shop, I was notified of anything that needed extra attention or approvals from my insurance company and I never had to worry about what was going on. My truck was beautiful inside and out when I picked it up. The paint work is flawless and the detailer left no spot untouched. Allison even offered to drive my spare key out to me after I forgot it in the office. As stressful as a collision is, the one thing you can hope for is a quick and easy fix. Gerber has before repaired our Santa Fe and did so with incredible professionalism and at the best price. This last repair came at a time when my husband and I only had one vehicle, and thus could not afford to be without our car. The original quote was near a thousand dollars and would require us to have no car for 3 days! Gerber knew the inconvenience that would put us in and offered to give us a hundred dollars off and get it done in ONE DAY!! When I got to the shop to pick up our vehicle it was spotless!!! They had repaired the bumper and it looked better than when we bought it! The manager came out with me to inspect the vehicle and talk to me about how to care for the new paint and what not to do. I was again impressed by the professionalism when ... I got in the car...it had been fully detailed and looked NEW! My wife inadvertantly backed our new 2012 Genesis into a pickup truck across the street which knocked loose one of the backup warning sensors and scuffed up the trim paint on the rear bumper (not a scratch on the bumper of the pickup). Josh, the Manager at the Bellingham Gerber Collision shop, gave us a very reasonable estimate of 2.6 hours to remove and reinstall the rear bumper including applying heat to remove a slight dent. We were charged an additonal .7 hours to reattach the dislodged backup sensor. The clip that held the senor was molded into the plastic bumper shell, and had cracked off from the impact. In order to avoid replacing and painting the entire bumper shell, Gerber was able to reattach the clip with glue, and buff out the scuffs for an additional .7 hours. Total bill was $165 plus tax. This was very reasonable for what ... we feared was going to be fairly costly. In addition, they provided a ride to and from an appointment my wife had made while the repair was being done. Overall, the sevice was fast, friendly, expertly done, and reasonably priced. read more
